The famous poet William Wordsworth once wrote a poem titled "Written In Germany, On One Of The Coldest Days Of The Century". Now the poem itself, which a about a fly, mostly, is not my favourite. Having lived in the Yarrow Valley in Scotland for eight years, I feel much more affinity with his three well known poems: Yarrow Unvisited, Yarrow Visited and Yarrow Revisited.
But presently we're living in Germany, and it struck me that, would Wordsworth have had a digital camera, he might have made pictures and titled one of these "Photographed in Germany, On One Of The Coolest Days Of The Century."
I can't remember the exact temperature on the days I took this picture. To begin with, these pictures of the Narnia Lamppost were made on three different days and not on one day in particular. Moreover, it was not spectacularly cold. But it was cool in both the true sense of the word, as well as the slang sense.
These photographs of our Narnia lamppost are size 640 x 480 pixels. The last one also comes in 1024 x 768 which Jolanda uses as desktop wallpaper on her iBook during the Winter. Let me know if you would like a copy for your own laptop.
