Study after Vincent van Gogh
De Sower
This is a small painting on board. Reading his collected letters, I found Vincent van Gogh had described this painting 'The Sower' to his brother Theo. He was rather explicit about the colours he used.
I liked that. So I made a quick sketch and then painted my own colours. Vincent himself did not consider the first painting he did on the subject (after Millet) a great success, so he continued to paint another. This second painting is the one which is in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, and which I have recaptured here.
Robert made a scan of the small panel and then printed it as a fine art Giclée card in his 'Art à la Carte' series. It is a really nice card, on a good size (14 cm x 19 cm) and with a wonderful texture that can only come from 100% pure cotton.

A limited quantity of these cards is available for purchase. They are individually printed and wrapped in cellophane. Price including envelope: Euro 8.50. To order,

Study after Pisarro
Landscape in the South of France
Another small painting on board. Pisarro painted this in the year 1876 and I took his lead in 2009. Frame is made from a narrow teak moulding, and then used from the back.
