Pastorale in March

The year 2009. A day in March. Nothing special, dreich rather than jubilant. Dull grass, bare branches and no leaves. No daffodils either. Yet what colours!

First four pictures were made with a simple, nothing-special zoom lens, the 55-200, mounted on the basic Nikon D40.

The final picture was made with an unlikely combination: a Nippon Kogaku Nikkor-Q Auto 200mm 1:4 mounted on a simple Nikon D40 digital camera. Indeed, this lens is more than 45 years old yet functions on a modern digital camera!

I also used a set of extension tubes. It will be obvious that with this set up, there is, of course, no metering nor automatic exposure settings. The camera needs to be set to fully manual, then the aperture is set on the lens (f8 in this case) and the shutter speed adjusted on the camera after a reading from a hand held exposure meter.
