Henderland Farm

Conceptualizing

on a hill

Way back in the 1980's I lived in Amsterdam and worked in advertising. But after moving to Scotland that game became a distant memory. So when Jim, our next hill neighbour, asked if I had any ideas for an advert for his farm, it was an opportunity to revisit past skills.

Jim provided the text and I made the photographs and put everything together in Photoshop. It was marvellous on the hills that day, where nothing has changed since 1856 or thereabouts. The only evidence of now, really, were Jim's quad-bike and my Nikon.

Henderland farm advert

This year Jim is president of the BSBA the Blackface Sheep Breeders' Association. Their annual magazine features adverts by all the breeders in Scotland and abroad.

For his advert, Jim decided he wanted to emphasise in what conditions his sheep are being bred and reared.
